Survivor Series 2020: WWE to pay tribute to the Undertaker

WWE are set to honour one of their greatest stars at the upcoming Survivor Series which is also the 30th anniversary of the debut of the Undertaker.

The Undertaker has captivated South African audiences since WWE programming first hit our TV screens.

SURVIVOR SERIES SET TO CELEBRATE 30 YEARS OF THE UNDERTAKER

The Deadman made his debut in WWE at the 1990 Survivor Series when he beat Hulk Hogan and earned his first title in the company. This year, the much-anticipated Survivor Series event is set to commemorate 30 years of The Undertaker.

WWE have declared that Survivor Series will be the final appearance of the Undertaker, but similar messaging has been conveyed in the past only for the Deadman to rise again.

The faces of the Undertaker

The Undertaker has gone by various nicknames or titles during his career with each carrying a distinct look as well as character and sometimes a drastic change in signature moves. These personas are; The Original Deadman, Lord of Darkness, Ministry of Darkness, American Bad Ass, Big Evil and The Deadman.

Taker has held a top tier world title seven times during his time in WWE and is also a seven-time tag champion. Three of those reigns were alongside his kayfabe brother Kane.

His last significant feud in WWE culminated with his victory over AJ Styles in a Boneyard Match at WrestleMania 36.

Survivor Series 2020 – Confirmed matches

Survivor Series is shaping up to be a battle for brand supremacy between WWE’s flagship shows Raw and Smackdown.

The Champions of each brand will have matches against their counterparts on the other show, and there will be two five-person traditional Survivor Series elimination matches.

  • Team RAW vs Team SmackDown in a 5-on-5 Men’s Survivor Series Elimination Match
  • Team RAW vs Team SmackDown in a 5-on-5 Women’s Survivor Series Elimination Match
  • RAW Tag Team Champions The New Day vs SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Street Profits
  • Bobby Lashley (Raw’s United States Champion) vs. Sami Zayn (SmackDown’s Intercontinental Champion) – Champion vs. Champion non-title singles match
  • Asuka (Raw Women’s Champion) vs. Sasha Banks (SmackDown Women’s Champion) – Champion vs. Champion non-title singles match
  • Drew McIntyre (Raw’s WWE Champion) vs. Roman Reigns (SmackDown’s Universal Champion) (with Paul Heyman) – Champion vs. Champion non-title singles match.

This year’s Survivor Series event will air live in South Africa on SuperSport 4 and DStv’s WWE Channel 236 in the early hours of Monday 23 November. The show is scheduled to start at 02:00 SAST.
