Al Ahly proved they could win without coach Pitso Mosimane when they made it two victories from as many matches to start their Egyptian Premier League season.
AL AHLY UNDER CAVIN JOHNSON WON 3-0
The giants of Egypt were far too strong for Ghazi El Mahalla winning 3-0 in Mosimane’s absence on Friday.
With Mosimane having tested positive for the Covid-19, Al Ahly had assistant coach Cavin Johnson in the dugout.
The scores were deadlocked at 0-0 at half-time, but in the second half Al Ahly found their goal-scoring touch.
Mohamed Sherif opened the scoring in the 49th minute and Mahmoud Kahraba doubled their lead in the 69th minute.
Al Ahly were in cruise control at that stage, but Sherif bagged his brace in the 80th minute when he reacted first to Mohamed Magdy’s pass before tapping into an unguarded net to wrap up another impressive win.
