AmaZulu FC have confirmed the appointment of Benni McCarthy as the club’s new head coach.
McCarthy, who has been unemployed since his abrupt departure from Cape Town City in November 2019, replaces Ayanda Dlamini who stepped down as AmaZulu’s head coach just a week ago.
AmaZulu confirm Benni McCarthy arrival
As this website reported last week, McCarthy’s cv was at the top of the pile at AmaZulu and he has since beaten the likes of Eric Tinkler and Owen Da Gama to the position at hand.
“We want to compete on the field and Benni McCarthy is a terrible loser, and so are we. We want to win all the time. We want to be the best soccer brand in the country come our centenary, in 12 years time and Benni McCarthy is the right man to lead us there.” AmaZulu owner Sandile Zungu said at the unveiling of the club’s new head coach.
Benni McCarthy joins AmaZulu with a more than healthy record of 37 victories, 21 draws and 31 losses in 89 Premier Soccer League matches. He also won his maiden trophy in the form of the MTN8 title with Cape Town City in 2018.
