The Cheetahs beat the Pumas in their Currie Cup clash at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit on Friday.
The Cheetahs won 35-31 after trailing 12-7 at half-time.
FIRST CHEETAHS WIN OF THE TOURNAMENT
Victory for the defending champion Cheetahs was their first of the tournament and helped them edge closer to a semi-final spot.
However, the remain four points behind the Lions who currently occupy the fourth and final playoff spot.
Both sides scored five tries with the difference in the final score the fact that Springbok Frans Steyn landed all five conversions.
In next weekend’s Round 5 action, the Cheetahs host the Sharks in Bloemfontein on Sunday, December 27 at 16:30, while the Pumas have a bye.
