Kaizer Chiefs’ CAF Champions League opponents PWD Bamenda have finally departed from Cameroon ahead of their second leg preliminary round clash.

The defending Cameroonian champions were due to face Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium this evening however visa issues prevented them from arriving in time. The match was subsequently postponed to give the CAF Champions League newbies additional time to travel to South Africa.

Bamenda have finally departed from Cameroon, albeit with just 18 players, ahead of tomorrow’s clash. The Amakhosi hold a one goal advantage courtesy of Eric Mathoho’s away goal in last weekend’s first leg.

Bamenda en-route to face Kaizer Chiefs

Bamenda were tipped to hand Kaizer Chiefs a victory courtesy of a walk-over however the Cameroon side have managed to overcome their travel issues and make their way to South Africa.

The squad departed from Douala earlier this afternoon and will arrive in Johannesburg during the early hours of Saturday morning with a layover in Ethiopia’s Addis Ababa Airport.

Bamenda’s late arrival means they’ll have just over 12 hours to overcome jetlag before taking to the field against the Amakhosi at the FNB Stadium.

Action at the FNB Stadium between Kaizer Chiefs and Bamenda gets underway at 18:00. The winner of the two-legged tie will next face Angolan giants Premiero De Agosto for a place in this season’s CAF Champions League group stage round.
