DStv Premiership side SuperSport United have announced a change within their technical team with the appointment of a former club legend to the coaching ranks.
THABO SEPTEMBER TO ASSIST
Matsatsantsa have handed former captain and defender Thabo September a coaching role alongside head coach Kaitano Tembo.
September called time on his playing career back in 2016, having won three league titles – a Telkom Knockout and two Nedbank Cups – during his 10 years in United’s defence.
He played 136 matches in total for the side.
The 38-year-old September has been roped into a permanent coaching role and will not only assist Zimbabwe’s Tembo, but also DStv Diski Challenge coach Kwanele Kopo.
“Thabo has been a loyal servant of the club both on and off the field. He has always set an example through dedication, discipline and professionalism,” commented Tembo on the club’s website.
“He has joined the first team as second assistant coach and works as well with our reserve team. This will help us bridge the gap between the first and reserve teams in terms of having an identical philosophy from a playing and development point of view.
“Our objective is to prepare our young players for first team football and Thabo will play a crucial role in that regard.”
