South African trail running legend Ryan Sandes will be lining up at the start for the 75km race at next weekend’s Maxirace Cape Winelands taking place in Stellenbosch.
After a strange year of no racing, Sandes is looking forward to finishing the year on a high.
“After 3 years of planning and preparations, I was very disappointed that my Namibia project wasn’t able to be completed last month. I am looking forward to being able to run Maxirace Cape Winelands next weekend, it’s a race that has been on my bucket list,” says Sandes.
Sandes’ focus for 2021 is to put his Ultra Trail Mont Blanc (UTMB) bogey to bed and has spent many hours in the Franschhoek and Stellenbosch mountains training for this event.
So tackling the 75km route was the perfect opportunity to not only boost his training, but to also get a race under his belt in this unprecedented year.
More than just a trail race, Maxi-Race Cape Winelands, takes runners on an adventure, a journey of self-discovery among exquisite and unique landscapes.
