After the first eight matches in the DStv Premiership, both Mamelodi Sundowns and second-placed Swallows FC finished on 18 points each, but Sundowns, the reigning PSL champions, enjoyed a superior goal difference and were thus crowned Q1 winners.
SuperSport United (16 points) and Cape Town City (15 points) finished third and fourth, respectively.
The Premier Soccer League (PSL) confirmed the award on Monday.
As it currently stands, the majority of the DStv Premiership sides have played 11 matches, with just four more to go until the halfway mark of the season, which also signals the end of the Q-Innovation Quarter Two.
Sundowns now boast 25 points and are this well on their way to banking another tidy sum.
