Former Al Ahly striker Ahmed Belal has questioned the tactics deployed by Pitso Mosimane following his side’s goalless draw against Wadi Degla over the weekend.
Al Ahly dropped points for the first time this season after a 0-0 draw against 12th placed Wadi Degla on Friday evening. Pitso Mosimane’s defensive approach has since been criticised by Belal.
Pitso Mosimane’s tactics questioned
40-year-old former Egypt and Al Ahly striker Ahmed Belal has raised questions over Mosimane’s decision to field a solitary striker against the lowly ranked team while his changes came far too late according to Belal.
“Mosimane should’ve played with two strikers to make the most out of the opportunities they got and score goals. But he was very reserved today and failed to make good tactical decisions,” Belal said as quoted by KingFut.
“The changes he made were very late. He had to make them to confuse the opponents but he didn’t do so,”
Pitso Mosimane and Al Ahly now turn their attention to Niger side SONIDEP who they face in a CAF Champions League second leg clash tomorrow. The defending champions have a 1-0 on aggregate lead heading into the home fixture.
Friday night’s draw means Al Ahly drop to second position on the Egyptian Premier League standings however Pitso Mosimane’s men hold a game in hand over log leaders El Gouna who sit one point ahead.
