After six matches of the 30-match season (the one-fifth mark for those with mad mathematical skills), Amakhosi lie 12th in the standings.

The six league points Chiefs currently have have come courtesy of one win, three draws and two defeats.

Chiefs are already a yawning eight points behind reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns who have shaken off the loss of coach Pitso Mosimane to currently sit top of the log.

PROBLEMS AT BOTH ENDS OF THE PITCH

Chiefs appear to have problems at both ends of the field.

Their defence has leaked eight goals with key players like skipper Itumeleng Khune making costly errors in goal.

Up front, while their injury woes are well documented, Chiefs have only scored five goals – one of which was an own goal – in six matches.

That’s fewer than a goal a game – not the recipe for winning football matches.

While their results, rather than form, in the CAF Champions League has been better, the Glamour Boys’ fans will be running short of patience should coach Gavin Hunt not turn around their fortunes – and fast.

AWAY TO SUPERSPORT UNITED NEXT

Things won’t get any easier for Chiefs in their next match away to SuperSport United.

Matsatsantsa are currently sixth in the standings with nine points having played only five matches.

The sides will do battle on Tuesday, December 15 at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium.

Kick-off is at 19:30.
