Transfer deadline day is upon us, with top European clubs looking to conclude business before the 23:00 cut-off time.

Many big deals were concluded before the final day of the window, with Everton’s acquisition of Colombian superstar James Rodriguez among those that caught headlines, along with former Bayern Munich teammate Thiago Alcantara’s move to Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp has, however, made minimal additions to his squad, and could be prompted to recruit more players following Sunday night’s disastrous result.

The same goes for Manchester United, who also suffered an embarrassing defeat over the weekend.

The Red Devils only completed the signing of Dutch midfielder Donny van der Beek prior to deadline day, and have been linked with a number of players, most-notably Jadon Sancho from Borrusia Dortmund.

Completed deals

While some English clubs are still looking to conclude business on deadline day, Everton have welcomed a new addition to their squad.

Former England youth international Ben Godfrey has moved to Merseyside after impressing for Norwich in his debut season in the Premier League.

In Germany, champions Bayern Munich have completed two deals on deadline day, with Douglas Costa returning to the club on loan from Juventus, while Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting joined on a free transfer.

Meanwhile, Hoffenheim signed Tottenham Hotspur’s Ryan Sessegnon on a season-long loan deal.

Elsewhere, French champions Parsi Saint Germain welcomed two loanees, with Everton striker Moise Kean set for a stint in the nation’s capital, along with Danilo Pereira, who joins from Portuguese giants FC Porto.

Possible deadline day deals

Manchester United have only confirmed one signing so far, but are reportedly set to add two more players to their roster after their thrashing over the weekend.

Brazilian defender Alex Telles is said to have signed for the club from Portuguese outfit Porto, and is currently undergoing a medical, along with free agent Edison Cavani.

There has been one departure from Old Trafford on deadline day, with Diogo Dalot following Andreas Pereira – who joined Lazio on loan – to Italy, after the Portuguese defender joined AC Milan on loan.

Elsewhere, Arsenal are heavily-linked with Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey after reportedly approaching his Spanish club Atletico Madrid with a £45 million bid.
