Stuart Baxter says he is delighted with the prospect of reuniting with one of his former charges, Cole Alexander.
The duo worked together during the Scot’s tenure at Supersport United, and again when he replaced Shakes Mashaba as Bafana Bafana coach.
Cole Alexander to reunite with Stuart Baxter
They now have an opportunity to reunite once more, following the former Bidvest Wits midfielder’s move to Odisha FC in India, where Baxter serves as head coach.
The 67-year-old says he expects the player to be popular among the fans at his new club.
“We are delighted to secure Cole to our squad,” he told the club’s website. “I have worked with Cole with Bafana and he brings a combination of high energy, character and quality. His personality will enrich our squad environment and I am sure he will be popular among our fans.”

The excitement over the move was mutual, with Alexander also excited to join the Indian Super League outfit.
“I am extremely delighted to join Odisha FC and play in the Indian Super League for the first time. It will be really great to play under Coach Stuart Baxter again, and I can’t wait to meet my teammates,” he told the club’s official website.
“I am very excited and looking forward to the season ahead. I have heard a lot about the special fans that the club has, and though they will not be in the stadiums with us this year, we will carry them in our hearts and try and make them proud.
“I hope we can achieve something special at Odisha FC in the upcoming seasons.”

Alexander has made over 200 appearances in South Africa’s top-flight, also representing the likes of Polokwane City and Supersport United.
