The Africa Cup of Nations AFCON Qualifiers 2021 is set to commence this week from Wednesday, in Group L, the Nigerian Super Eagles will host the Sierra Leone National squad in Edo state.
Ahead of the clash which is set to take place on Friday the Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa has insisted that the team will go all out for an outright win against Sierra Leone.
According to the earlier reports, it has been confirmed that the encounter at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City will be played behind closed doors, as the organisers the Nigeria Football Federation implements Confederation of African Football’s guidelines against Covid-19 pandemic.
Musa states that the players will give their all in the encounter to make their fans proud.
Also there wouldn’t be fans available to watch the match, Musa in his statement said it was due to the presence of the COVID-19 pandemic as there is nothing they can do than to play without fans and win in order to make them happy.
Ahmed Musa said, “Playing in Benin is great. It’s the home town of my mum. I would have love to see my family members come around and watch this game, but there is nothing we can do about it,” according to Complete sport.
“It is all about the situation of things at the moment, the pandemic here in Nigeria and other parts of the world. There is nothing we can do, we have to play the game without the fans.
“We will do our best to qualify and make the fans happy.”
The Super Eagles top Group L with six points from two games.
