Middendorp, who returned to the KwaZulu-Natal side for an incredible fourth stint as coach during the week, saw his side lose their fifth straight match to begin the 2020/21 DStv Premiership season.

The Team of Choice took the lead in the eighth minute thanks to an own goal by SuperSport United goalkeeper Ronwen Williams.

But Matsatsantsa were not to be denied and a brace by striker Bradley Grobler in the 14th and 64th minutes saw them to victory.

While Maritzburg United are still waiting for their first point of the season, SuperSport United find themselves in third place in the standings on nine points.

Life won’t get much easier for Middendorp’s men in their next match when they welcome reigning champions Mamelodi Sundowns to the Harry Gwala Stadium on Saturday, December 5 at 20:15.

SuperSport United are only next in action on Tuesday, December 15 when they host Kaizer Chiefs at the Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium at 19:30.
