Former Proteas batsman Herschelle Gibbs has been appointed coach of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) side Colombo Kings.
Gibbs will be assisted by former Sri Lankan spinner Rangana Herath.
FAF DU PLESSIS HAS WITHDRAWN
The side will be skippered by Sri Lankan star Angelo Mathews and boasts big-hitting West Indian all-rounder Andre Russell among their squad.
The Colombo Kings were due to have former Proteas Test skipper Faf du Plessis as their marquee foreign player, but he withdrew following multiple postponements of the tournament.
Similarly, another Proteas player, David Millar, who was due to represent the Dambulla Hawks, has also withdrawn.
Gibbs, now 46, played 90 Tests, 248 ODIs and 23 T20Is for the Proteas before calling it a day at the crease.
The 5-team LPL is due to commence on November 26 and will conclude on December 16.
No matter where the Colombo Kings finish in the tournament, with Gibbs at the helm they are bound to have the most fun!
