Sharks edge Cheetahs in controversial Super Rugby Unlocked clash in Durban

The Sharks have beaten the Cheetahs in an error-strewn and controversial Super Rugby Unlocked clash at Kings Park in Durban.

The Sharks won 19-13 after leading 6-0 at half-time.

The Cheetahs suffered a blow prior to kick-off when their Springbok centre Frans Steyn was ruled out with a groin injury.

A late Sharks try by wing Madosh Tambwe gave the home side the win, although there appeared to be a forward pass in the movement which was missed by the referee and his fellow officials.

Sharks flyhalf Curwin Bosch added the conversion and was also on target with four penalties.

The Cheetahs replied with a try by centre William Small-Smith, while flyhalf Tian Schoeman added the conversion and two penalties.

The Sharks picked up four points for their victory, while the Cheetahs left with a single bonus point for losing by seven or fewer points.

In Saturday’s Super Rugby Unlocked matches, Griquas host the Stormers in Kimberley (16:30), while the Lions welcome the Bulls to Ellis Park (19:00)
