Watch | Highlights of all 3 Currie Cup Round 1 matches

Round 1 of the 2020/21 Currie Cup saw both lightning and controversy.

In Friday’s opening match in Durban, the Sharks proved far too strong for the Pumas, winning 45-10.

Saturday’s first match in Kimberley between Griquas and the Lions was called off early into the second half when the heavens opened and fears of lightning in the area saw the match called off.

The Lions, who were leading 20-17 at the time, were handed the victory.

The second clash on Saturday provided drama – and controversy – aplenty.

The Bulls were reduced to 14 men in the 47th minute in a decision which defied logic and baffled the majority of fans watching – and Bulls coach Jake White – (and hopefully will see SA Rugby have a word with offending TMO Rasta Rasivhenge and referee AJ Jacobs).

However, despite their numerical disadvantage, Jake White’s Bulls side mounted a stirring comeback to down WP 22-20 for the first time in 11 years at Newlands.

The Bulls maintain their lead atop the standings heading into Round 2.
