With no end in sight to the increasing exodus of SA players, Blue Bulls Company CEO Edgar Rathbone told Netwerk24 that while the move wasn’t confirmed, Van Zyl had indicated his desire to head for greener pastures.

While English media suggested Van Zyl will join his new team-mates before the end of the year, Rathbone has insisted that the No 9 won’t be released before mid-2021.

Time will tell what happens.

SARACENS WERE RELEGATED FOR SALARY CAP BREACHES

Van Zyl, 25, has played six Tests for the Springboks, all in 2018.

Saracens were not so long ago home to a number of South African players, but at present only have two on their books – Vincent Koch and Michael Rhodes.

Saracens were relegated from the top-flight in England at end of 2019/20 season for persistent salary cap breaches.
