DStv Premiership newcomers TS Galaxy have confirmed that head coach Dan ‘Dance’ Malesela has been dismissed with immediate effect.
Malesela’s TS Galaxy have picked up just seven points from their opening eight games since buying Highlands Park’s top flight status and sit in 13th position, just two points above the relegation zone.
TS Galaxy confirmed the departure of Malesela on Sunday evening, this comes after they dropped points for a sixth consecutive game when they lost 3 – 2 against Cape Town City on Saturday.
TS Galaxy fire Dan Malesela
“TS Galaxy FC has parted ways with coach, Dan Malesela following a string of poor results which saw the club failing to win a match in the last six Dstv Premiership matches.” a club statement read.
It wasn’t an easy decision – Tim Sukazi
“The decision to part ways with Coach Dan was not an easy one as he has a rich history with our club. Unfortunately, football is a result driven business and decisions such as this can only be based on results than history,” Club boss Tim Sukazi said.
“Coach Dan will always be highly regarded at our club and his name will remain well documented in our history books. Coach Zipho will be our Head Coach in the interim. All I can do is to wish him well because he deserves the opportunity to assume the TS Galaxy Head Coaching role on a permanent basis but only time will tell. He is a very good Coach whom I believe has the potential that is yet to be realised at the top level of the game.
“Coach Zipho will be assisted by Coach Esau Mtsweni who has been serving on the same role for quite some time. We believe there is good synergy between the two Coaches which could bring success to our Club.”
Early reports suggest that TS Galaxy will be looking at both Eric Tinkler and Owen Da Gama as Malesela’s long-term replacement. Galaxy next play Baroka FC on 05 January 2021.
