Hamilton on Tuesday confirmed he would miss the weekend’s race after testing positive for Covid-19.

Russell’s seat at Williams will be taken by little-known Jack Aitken.

Hamilton, who has already wrapped up a record-equaling seventh F1 drivers’ title, faces a race against time to be passed to drive in the season-ending Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi.

Hamilton’s Mercedes team confirmed the news on social media on Wednesday.
