Paarl ODI delayed after Covid-19 positive results in England bio-bubble

Cricket South Africa (CSA) and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have agreed to delay the start time for Sunday’s One-Day International match in Paarl.

TWO HOTEL STAFF TESTED POSITIVE

The England players and management underwent an additional round of PCR tests on Saturday evening, after two members of the hotel staff testing positive for Covid-19.

While the ECB awaits ratification of those test results, the decision has been taken to delay the start of the match.

The opening ODI was due to take place on Friday, but an unnamed member of the Proteas team failed a Covid-19 test, pushing the match back to Sunday.

The Proteas subsequently passed a later Covid-19 test, but their 18-man squad has been reduced to 17 as the player sits out the series.

No replacement has been called for.

Further information will be provided in due course.
