RIP | Former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates coach Joe Frickleton dies

It has been confirmed that former Highlands Park legend and Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates coach Joe Frickleton has died.

Scotland-born Frickleton spent the majority of his playing and coaching days in South Africa where he was one of the most successful coaches from the 1970s to the 1990s.

FRICKLETON PLAYED FOR AND COACHED HIGHLANDS PARK

Frickleton played for Highlands Park between 1964-1974 and then managed the team until 1976.

Following a stint in charge of Lusitano, Frickleton returned to Highlands Park between 1978-1983.

He then coached Kaizer Chiefs between 1984-1985, winning four trophies during his spell at the club.

Following a break in coaching, Frickleton returned, this time at Orlando Pirates in 1995 where he helped lead the club to Africa Champions Cup success.

According to reports, Frickleton was admitted to hospital in Cape Town in May with dementia.

His death was confirmed by the PSL on Tuesday.

The South African would like to pay its respects and condolences to Frickleton’s family and friends.
