Former referee Jonathan Kaplan has given his expert thoughts on the much-debated red card incident in Round 1 of the Currie Cup at Newlands.

The controversial joint decision by referee AJ Jacobs and TMO Rasta Rasivhenge to give Bulls prop Jacques van Rooyen his marching orders against WP dominated social media during – and post-match.

Van Rooyen was sent from the field in the 47th minute, but rather than roll over, the Bulls mounted a stirring fightback with 14 men to beat the home side 22-20.
