Ahead of the current season, AmaZulu had a busy transfer season with a number of new faces signed by the ambitious club.

MCCARTHY HIMSELF JOINED AMAZULU THIS SEASON

Benni McCarthy, who himself joined the club during the season, had initially said he didn’t foresee making many changes to his squad when the January transfer window opened.

However, the former Bafana Bafana legend has now said there will be changes coming after a string of disappointing results in their DStv Premiership season.

McCarthy foresees new players arriving as well as others departing the club.

MCCARTHY DIDN’T MENTION NAMES

Although McCarthy didn’t mention names, according to the Kickoff website, Somilia Ntsundwana, Andre De Jong, Mario Booysen and some of the youngsters are among those who could be offloaded.

“‘We need to stop drawing the games we should be winning, so we are looking at attacking options out there. We are looking to strengthen and definitely players will be leaving AmaZulu FC this time,” McCarthy said after AmaZulu played to draws in their last two matches against Maritzburg United and SuperSport United.

“‘Yes of course we don’t want deprive or stop players from getting game-time and that, so yeah we have a great squad and will be looking at offloading some players, give them an opportunity to play elsewhere you know.

“We are also looking at a few possibilities where we can strengthen because as good and solid as the team is, we can do with some top quality players, one or two coming in to strengthen the squad even more to be tougher to beat.”

AmaZulu find themselves down in 10th place in the standings after 12 matches, a far cry from the top 4 position McCarthy spoke about achieving at his unveiling at the club.

AmaZulu will next be in action against eighth-placed Baroka FC at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday, 23 January.

Kick-off is at 17:00.
