Cape Town Spurs have terminated the contract of Serbian head coach Vladislav Heric following a delay in his recovery from Covid-19.

VLADISLAV HERIC TESTED POSITIVE AFTER QUARANTINE

Spurs released a statement on Thursday indicating that the Vladislav Heric had tested positive for Covid-19 on December 28 last year and served the mandatory 14-day quarantine period, but remained positive upon a retest.

The team’s position in 16th place, bottom of the GladAfrica Championship table after seven matches, did not help Vladislav Heric’s case either.

‘Although the coach would have preferred to stay on and lead the team through this difficult period, he understands that the ongoing delay in returning to the helm is not to the benefit of the team and future performances,’ read part of the statement.

‘Due to the NSL protocols, it’s still unclear when the coach would have been able to return. The club has accepted and supports the coach’s decision on the matter as his health is equally a priority.’

“We wish coach Vlad a speedy recovery,” Cape Town Spurs CEO Alexi Efstathiou added.
