‘Paw-some’ | Ralf Schumacher posts picture of dog adopted from DARG

Sports

Former Formula One star Ralf Schumacher has posted an adorable picture of the pet dog his family adopted from Cape Town’s Domestic Animal Rescue Group (DARG).

The South African reported last Friday that Schumacher, the brother of Formula One legend Michael Schumacher, visited the non-profit organisation in Hout Bay and fell in love with ‘Sammy’.

DARG confirmed to The South African that Sammy, along with his brother Biscuit, were dropped off at DARG after their Imizamo Yethu owner no longer wanted them.

Biscuit was subsequently adopted, leaving Sammy on his own, desperately seeking his forever home.

And it’s clear Sammy has found just that!

Ralf Schumacher, who competed in 180 F1 races between 1997-2007, along with his son David, who is currently competing in Formula 3, are clearly animal lovers and 2-year-old Sammy has been showered with love and affection.

It’s unclear how long the Schumachers have been in Cape Town and how long they intend on staying in the Mother City, but they haven’t wasted any time in taking Sammy for his first hike.

Ralf Schumacher took to his Instagram account on Friday to post a picture of Sammy outside the Elephant’s Eye Cave.

Shortly after the adoption was finalised, Ralf Schumacher again took to social media to write (translated from German): A house without a dog 🐕 is not possible 😊. Many thanks to the great organisation that takes care of these animals and find new homes. Sammy will surely like it with us 😊

We have no doubt that’s true!

Ralf Schumacher won six Formula One races during his career and finished on the podium on 27 occasions while driving for Jordan, Williams and Toyota.

He is the uncle of Mick Schumacher who will race in his maiden Formula One season for Haas F1 Team in 2021.

Now that’s what we call a ‘paw-some’ story!
