Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly side have booked their spot in the CAF Champions League group stages after hammering AS SONIDEP 4-0 in the second leg of their first round tie in Cairo.
Al Ahly got off to a perfect start after Taher Mohamed opened the scoring in the 13th minute.
Matters got tougher for SONIDEP as they were reduced to 10 men four minutes later after their goalkeeper Carlos Djouram was sent off for a tackle on Ahmed Yasser Rayan outside the box.
Al Ahly doubled their lead eight minutes before half-time after Walid Soliman converted Ali Ma’aloul low cross with a good finish inside the box.
ONE-WAY TRAFFIC IN THE SECOND HALF FOR AL AHLY
It was a one-way traffic for Mosimane’s men after the half-time break as they were awarded a penalty in the 66th minute that was converted by Badr Banoun to make it 3-0 on the night.
Mahmoud Kahraba scored the fourth goal for Al Ahly in the final minute as the Red Devils sealed a 4-0 win on the night and a 5-0 win on aggregate to advance to the group stages.
The group stage draw will take place at 14:00 SA time on Friday, January 8.
