Soweto giants Orlando Pirates have crashed to a shock defeat against lowly Black Leopards in their DStv Premiership clash on Sunday.

Black Leopards, who started the match as the bottom side in the standings, won 2-0.

Black Leopards took a shock 29th-minute lead at a wet Thohoyandou Stadium thanks to an own-goal by Buccaneers defender Innocent Maela.

Lidodo Duvha then doubled their advantage in the 40th minute after a well-worked move finished expertly by Zambian Rodrick Kabwe.

Try as they might, the Buccaneers were unable to find the back of the net.

Thanks to their victory, Black Leopards moved out of the relegation zone and up to 16th place in the standings.

Orlando Pirates, meanwhile, remained in fifth spot, but are now eight points behind log-leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

Orlando Pirates will next be in action at home against Golden Arrows on Wednesday, 20 January.

Kick-off is at 17:00.

Meanwhile, Black Leopards will look to build on their victory when they host Cape Town City on the same day and at the same time.
