Limited tickets on sale for British & Irish Lions tour – but not for the 3 Tests

Sports

There’s good news for fans who missed out on being allocated tickets in the ballot for next year’s British & Irish Lions tour to South Africa as a limited number of tickets have been made available for purchase.

The bad news is none of the tickets are for the three Tests scheduled.

TICKETS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR TOUR MATCHES

Instead, the tickets that are now available are just for the first five tour matches.

The tickets will be available on a first come, first served basis, without a ballot mechanic. In addition, sales are only available to South African residents.

The British & Irish Lions visit South Africa once every 12 years and the tour will open with a historic match against the Stormers at the Cape Town Stadium on July 3, 2021.

This will be the first time the Stormers will play the British & Irish Lions and it will also be the first ever international match at the Cape Town Stadium.

Next year’s tour will be the 14th British & Irish Lions visit to South Africa, with their first visit dating back to 1891.

The Lions, outside of the tour matches, have played the Springboks 46 times, with the Springboks winning 23 times, the Lions 17 times and six matches being drawn.

For those interested in buying, tickets can be purchased via the official ticketing website.

Sales will open on Wednesday, November 18 at 10:00
