Mamelodi Sundowns have added yet another top player to their already impressive roster, with versatile Supersport United winger Aubrey Modiba signing on the dotted line.
The reigning league champions have long pursued the 25-year-old, who has been one of their Tshwane rivals’ key players over the past few seasons.
Aubrey Modiba joins Mamelodi Sundowns
His departure from Matsatsansa was confirmed by the club’s chief executive Stan Matthews, who gave his blessing for the player’s release.
“When a player helps us win trophies, plays his part in the club’s progress and gets a massive opportunity which is good for both him and us – then we open to discussion.”
Stan Matthews
He added;
“Sundowns have been pursuing Aubrey for a long time, and the reality is we cannot come anywhere close to what is available to him. “He has been a fantastic player for us on the pitch, a wonderful young man off the field, of whom we are very proud, and we wish him every success in the future – a future which looks very bright indeed.”

Road to Chloorkop
Modiba joined Supersport in 2016 after stints at Mpumalanga Black Aces and Cape Town City.
Since his move to Tshwane, he has made over 121 appearances in all competition, netting 21 goals and as many assists while mostly operating from the left side of the defence.
He has helped the club to three domestic trophies and was part of the side that finished as runners-up in the 2017 Caf Confederations Cup.
The seven-cap Bafana player now joins a big Sundowns squad, which has had a number of reinforcements ahead of the upcoming season.
Players who have recently made the move to Chloorkop include Bidvest Wits trio Haashim Domingo, Ricardo Goss and Gift Motupa, as well as Lesedi Kapinga, who joined after his release from Black Leopards.
