A look at the DStv Premiership log shows that two teams – Mamelodi Sundowns or Swallows FC – could lead the standings come the end of a tumultuous 2020.
EITHER MAMELODI SUNDOWNS OR SWALLOWS FC
Those two sides couldn’t be more different.

On the one hand, you have current leaders and defending champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, who currently enjoy a two-point lead over returnees to the top-flight, Swallows FC.
No surprise that both teams are undefeated after seven matches with the only difference being that the Brazilians have won 5 and drawn 2, while The Birds have triumphed in 4 matches and drawn 3.
Sundowns boast a vastly superior goal difference, meaning Swallows would need to lead outright on points to sit atop the standings come Christmas.

The final matches for both sides this weekend have thrown up some interesting clashes.
Sundowns will be in action away to Bloemfontein Celtic at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Saturday, 19 December.
Kick-off is at 15:30.
Siwelele may be down in 10th place in the standings, but they have played one match fewer than their rivals, mainly thanks to the MTN 8 and CAF Confederation Cup commitments.
They certainly won’t roll over and play dead for the visit of their more illustrious opponents.
Meanwhile, Swallows will also be away in their final league clash of the year against struggling Black Leopards who are in 15th spot in the log.
By virtue of the fact that match only takes place on Sunday, 20 December (15:30), Swallows, who gained promotion to the DStv Premiership after last season, will know whether top spot remains a possibility.
In summary, a defeat for Sundowns (possible) coupled with a victory for Swallows (probable) will see the Dube Birds claim bragging rights at the summit of the standings heading into 2021.
Don’t bet on it not happening in this crazy year!
Any other set of results will see Sundowns maintain their lead atop the log.
