Kaizer Chiefs make major breakthrough in Nurkovic saga

Nurkovic and Kaizer Chiefs have been at loggerheads over his contractual situation at the club over the past few weeks and the Serbian marksman is yet to don the Amakhosi shirt despite being fit for over two weeks.

Nurkovic successfully underwent surgery on a groin injury following the 2019/20 campaign however despite making a full recovery three weeks ago, Gavin Hunt confirmed that ‘other problems‘ were preventing him from playing.

Kaizer Chiefs and Samir Nurkovic reach agreement

The ‘other problems’ coach Gavin Hunt was referring to seems close to being solved with Kaizer Chiefs reportedly reaching an agreement with Samir Nurkovic over a contract extension at the club while additional clauses have been added to his contract with the intention of lessening the blow should he leave the club come June.

“Hunt has been desperate to have Nurkovic back for his misfiring team, which is wallowing in the bottom half of the table, and his statement last week after the draw with Black Leopards sped up the negotiations for this newly agreed deal, which will be sealed tonight.” Kick-Off revealed.

“In the new contract, Chiefs have inserted a transfer figure of US$1 million (R15-million), which they will be hoping to get at the end of the season, by which time their transfer ban will be lifted and they will be able to sign a replacement.

“Nurkovic is set to start on the bench for the DStv Premiership match-up against SuperSport United on Tuesday evening.”

Kaizer Chiefs fans will breathe a sigh of relief with many hopes resting on last season’s Amakhosi top goal scorer, Samir Nurkovic, to turn the fortunes around at the club following their turbulent start to the season.
