Phillips held office for two-and-a-half years from the PSL’s inception nearly 25 years ago, before returning for a second spell in 2002, which spanned five years until 2007.
The NSL Executive Committee conveyed its heartfelt condolences to Phillips’ family, in particularly, his wife Stella and his children Mark and Sharon.
“We supplicate that GOD gives them fortitude at this moment of their extreme grief and pain,” the PSL tweeted on Monday.
The PSL will observe a moment of silence ahead of this week’s DStv Premiership and GladAfrica Championship fixtures.
