Bauchi’s Yankari National Park is one of the most famous places to visit in Nigeria. Spanning an area of about 2,244 square kilometres, Yankari was originally created as a game reserve in 1956. It, however, became the biggest national park in Nigeria in 1991. In addition to the over 350 bird species such as the guinea fowl, grey hornbill, cattle egret and saddle-billed stork which can be found here, over 50 species of mammals also make this park their home. They include the African bush elephant, olive baboon, patas monkey, West African lion, African buffalo, hippopotamus, bushbuck, waterbuck, roan lion, and Western hartebeest. Visitors who come here can enjoy their stay in the Wikki Camp with over 110 chalets ranging from standard to basic accommodation. There is also a restaurant, bar, and a conference centre.

The Farin Ruwa Falls is one of the highest waterfalls in Nigeria. About 150 metres tall, the Farin Ruwa Falls is a lot higher than the popular Victoria Falls which is about 108 metres. Literally translated as White Water Falls, the Farin Ruwa Falls is called so by the indigenes because of the white colour of the waters. A visit during the rainy season between March and November will have you witness the heavy volume of the waters as it descends from the mountains.
